In everyday human interaction, gender aspects play a non-negligible role in multiple dimensions of interaction.
Social psychologists have demonstrated convincingly that gender influences not only verbal communication but also proxemics, haptics, kinesics, etc. during interaction. Interestingly, gender aspects also affect the trustworthyness, persuasiveness and other characteristics attributed to the interaction partner.
When designing robots for human-robot interaction scenarios, gender aspects should therefore not be ignored.
In the context of the seminar, the effects of robot and human gender in human robot interaction scenarios are to be explored. Moreover, gender attributes of robots should be briefly addressed.
